My WindLDR program is using CNT(Adding Counter), which start at 0 and counts up to let's say 200 seconds. What I need is to do the opposite, which is to count down from 200 to 0. Does the CUD (Up/Down Selection Reversible Counter) able to perform this operation and if so how do I set the CUD up in the Ladder. I have looked at he help for the CUD but I do not understand it very well. Can anyone help?

Thanks
Ralph

I don't use counters or timers (when the timers are 1 second intervals). Instead, I use ADD and SUB instructions. I do this to have standardized code across several different programming platforms.

Check out this link to another topic that should relate to your issue. In your case, a count down will use a SUB instruction instead.

The CUD is pretty easy if you do want to play with it.

'R' is reset, pulse this and the counter will reset to the preset value like 200.
'P' is the count pulse. If you want to count seconds just use a normally open bit with M8121 (1-second clock)
'G' is the up/down selection. Off and it will count down, on and it counts up.
'Output' goes to any M or Q bit to signal the count is complete.
