ARRA - Buy American Act | USA
IDEC Products and the ARRA - Buy American Act
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 establishes a “Buy American” requirement for federal, state and local government projects funded with ARRA stimulus money.
Under the Trade Agreement Act, the US government may acquire “U.S.-made or designated country end products.”
Many of IDEC products are manufactured in Japan, which is one of the Government Procurement Agreement Countries, or assembled in the United States. In either case they are qualified as “American” goods under the “Buy American” Act. Our products made in other countries are typically components applied to larger machines and equipment manufactured in the United States. The end products are considered “American” as long as the cost of “non-American” components does not exceed 50% of the cost of all of the components. Therefore, we believe that in most cases our products are qualified under the “Buy American” requirement.
