Solid State Relays
Unlike electromechanical relays, solid state relays are electronic switching devices and have no moving parts. The solid state relays provide reliable switching in general applications and fast switching speeds. Since there are no moving parts, the life expectancy of a solid state relay is much improved compared to electromechanical relays.
RSC relays have technology to dissipate the heat away from main switching components, making them a great buy. Other relays may require you to add your own heat sink or deal with a burned out product, but the RSC relays from IDEC have a built-in heat sink making them easy to install and get running. The heat sink, along with an epoxy-free design, eliminates the need to de-rate your relay and also increases its life expectancy. And an LED status indicator makes sure you can see it working.
The slim design of the RSC relays provides a compact unit for DIN Rail or panel mounting without wasting space. 20A and 30A current ranges are 22.5mm, while the relays with 45A current are 45mm. All RSC relays are UL recognized, CE marked, as well as being lead-free and RoHS compliant.
The "hockey puck" style RSS series of solid state relays allow switching of the most demanding loads. Highly resistant to inrush, with a built-in snubber, the RSS series is ideal for switching loads such as lights and heaters. Available with either DC (4-32V) or AC (90-280V) inputs and output current ratings up to 90A. All models feature zero-voltage turn-on to reduce inrush current and a dual SCR switch (rather than a triac) for enhanced reliability and superior heat dissipation properties.
